December 2018 Favorites

December has been eventful, like every year. Lots of cozy moments with the books that I finally started reading again, lots of new products that I either received or bought and I became auntie, which was definitely the highlight of this month.

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Concealer And Contour - C1

Ever since I got it, I have been reaching for it. I was very skeptical, because some Makeup Revolution products have disappointed me in the past. But this is actually really nice. I chose one of the lightest shades, called C1 and it's fairly neutral leaning toward warm. It's actually really light and I like that it almost brightens up my under eye. It's liquid enough to make it spread nicely, but also slightly thicker, so the coverage is good. I'd say it's a proper medium, but you can build it up to almost full. It doesn't move once it sets, but I do always set it with powder, because I do that with all concealers. It also doesn't separate or look too cakey. So far, I really like it.

Revolution Pro 4K Highlighter Palette - Rose Gold

Another Revolution product that has positively surprised me. But then again, they always had amazing highlighters. I am especially in love with the golden shade, which is actually perfect champagne peachy gold that has lovely shimmery glow. It's one of those really glowy and reflective highlighters, perfect for night time, but I love it during the day as well. Lightest cool white is already too stark for my skin tone, this would be perfect on very fair skin. Rose gold has the least intense glow and it's more of a rose gold base with pink sheen. This is good blush topper. The bronzy shade is definitely too dark for me. Formula is creamy and very pigmented. It also lasts on my skin the whole day.

L.O.V. BLUSHment Blurring Blush - 30 Beautiful Minds Empower Other

L.O.V. has four shades in this range and 30 is the most neutral. It's a very wearable mauve shade with light cooler sheen. Some say these are dupes for Hourglass blushes. I got this shade, because it looked so wearable and it is. It will look different on different skin tones. On me it leans slightly warmer mauve. It's baked formula, but still feels quite creamy under the fingers and has good staying power. I hear that the marble design is different in each product and some have more highlight in it to the point that it's much lighter. Just keep that in mind when buying, although it's hard to know, because it comes sealed, so you can't see the design in it. I was lucky to get more of the mauve shade.

Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray Oil Contor

I have Urban Decay All Nighter spray and it just isn't enough for my oily T zone. I bought this one, because Skindinavia makes Urban Decay sprays, so it's basically the same product. It was also on sale, so I jumped on it. It's said to be primer, but you can definitely use it as setting spray. I tried it both ways. It works good as both. My oilier areas definitely stay intact for longer and I get minimal shine with this and even that is at the end of a very long day. There is no major tightening feeling, pretty much normal as with all other setting sprays. It has the same odd scent as Urban Decay All Nighter.

Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip - Snow Day

I got yet another Colourpop lip gloss. Lately I have just been loving lip glosses. No wonder really with this cold and dry weather. That being said, I am using these up so quickly and I realize they only hold 3 grams of product. So that's not at all that cheap for how much is in it. But I adore their formula. It just feels so comfortable, nourishing and soothing on the lips. It's not too sticky either. I also love their shimmery versions like this one called Snow Day. This is much more transparent pink base with small gold and purple shimmer. These also have delicious caramel scent that makes me hungry every time I put it on.

The Library of Fragrance - Baby Powder

I've mentioned that this is one of the most unique scents I have ever smelled. It definitely smells like that proper baby powder scent, very creamy, powdery and just cozy/soothing. I love it. It's almost so wrong that is right. I have been wearing it a lot this month, because it just feels so cozy. It also seems to stay on my skin for a long time. It's very powerful in the beginning, so you don't need a lot of it, but it fades through the day.

Bath & Body Works Twilight Woods Body Mist

Another favorite this month. This is just perfect powerful woody creamy sweet scent for all the sweet or oriental lovers. It has depth and sweetness that goes with winter. I absolutely adore it. I have found that this one doesn't stays on my skin all that well, so I tend to use it up quicker. I might need to invest in it after all, because it's just so likable.

Kerastase Reflection Chroma Riche Luminous Softening Essence

This has been in my drawer for probably too long. I was dreading using this up, because it felt too greasy for my hair, but now I love it. I have used up all my "good" hair care products - my Joico K-Pak shampoo and conditioner, and it shows on my hair. Drugstore products just don't do it for me in the winter. My hair is definitely drier now and I have more split ends as well. So when I started using this again, I realized how nice this is. It's oilier type of essence that also protects against thermal damage, so I use it before blow drying. It makes my hair super soft and shiny looking. It also gives me that luxurious hair salon smell.

Meik Wiking - The Little Book of Hygge

This was one of those books that I read through really fast. It was such an easy and fun read. I love what word hygge means and represents to Danish people. I personally would say coziness, but it's mentioned in the book, that it's much more than that. This is the perfect book to read in the winter in my opinion, because I can relate so well to those wooden crackling floors, cozy warm socks, fluffy blankets, cup of tea and a slice of good cake. Danish people are always on the top of the list for being the happiest nation. I think the key is in loving the little things and knowing how to relax while still maintaining good relationships. Highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking for something easy to read.

I'm auntie

Maybe I haven't mentioned this on my blog, but I have an older brother and in the beginning of the month I got a baby niece. Oh joy! I was never crazy about kids, but this little princess hooked me from the start. I may say she's better looking than the average baby, but I may just as well be subjective. She's a dark haired baby girl with big blue eyes. I suspect she'll be a heart breaker. You won't see photos of her on any of my profiles, because frankly, that's not mine to share and I respect her privacy. But I wanted to mention it here, because I am just so smitten by her these days. It's a whole new kind of joy in my life.
