A couple of days ago I posted Sweet Valentine Makeup where I created a subtle pink makeup with emphasis on the eyes. It's more of a romantic and natural look. In this post I wanted to create something a bit darker and sexier. I also used pink and berry shades and created smoky eyes with halo effect on the lid. To compliment sparkly eyes, I went for a matte berry lipstick shade. It's definitely a bolder look that you can create for Valentine's Day or just for when you're feeling a bit of that berry color.
I started eye makeup by applying eyeshadow primer. Then I used matte bone colored shade all over the lid to set it. In the crease I first used very light warm matte brown. I deepened it with a mix of matte redish brown and matte orange red to give it more warmth. After that I started applying matte shades on the outer corner and the inner corner. I also connected it in the center to create a sandwich effect, but left lid empty. For that I used matte marsala shade.
After that I went in with a matte burgundy purple shade to make it more pink toned. On the center of the lid I used shimmery cranberry pink all over. Then I used shimmery pinkish golden shade and applied it more only in the center of the center lid. I just slowly went more towards the center with lighter shades.
Because I wanted the center of the lid to have a real halo effect, I applied a very light shimmery pink shade. This will bring center of the lid forward and make it look really bright. On the inner corner of the eye I applied the same shimmery light pink shade as I applied on the center of the lid for the halo. On the bottom lash line I applied all the matte shades that I used on the upper lid going from darker next to the lash line to lighter towards the outer edges.I applied dark purple gel eyeliner and tried to smudge it into the lash line. This time I only slightly winged it out to elongate the shape of the eye, but not actually create a wing.
Normally I would apply false lashes for such a strong look, but then I would also loose that pretty halo effect. You'd only be able to see it when I close my lids. Instead I decided to apply lots of coats of volumizing mascara. I think it looks bold enough without the falsies.
On my face I mixed BB cream with light foundation. I used concealer to brighten under my eyes and around the mouth. I also used a bit of matte contour under the cheeks. To give me some more warmth I used matte bronzer on the outer edges of my face. For highlighter I decided on shimmery champagne gold which I applied on tops of my cheek bones, down the nose, on the upper lip and above the arch of brows. For blush I chose a very light pinkish peach tone that wouldn't make the look too pink nor be too peachy.
On the lips I used rich matte berry lipstick to compliment berry eyes.
If this combination turns out to be too colorful and bold for you, you can always change lip color to something more natural and shiny like I did here. It's a warm mauve pigmented lip gloss.
