Rita Wieber, the mother of U.S. gymnast Jordyn Wieber, is getting a lot of attention during the London Olympics 2012.
It's not surprising since the women's gymnastics team -- "the fierce five'' -- is now being mentioned as possibly the greatest American gymnastics team ever after trouncing the Russian team and winning their first title since 1996.
And just today, Jordyn, a native of DeWitt, Michigan, and the other members of the team took a call from President Obama.
Plus, those tweets to the team from Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
And that's not even mentioning the image of the 17-year-old Jordyn Wierber weeping when she failed to advance to the all-around finals
Well, long before Jordyn Wieber was a household name outside of her hometown, sponsor Proctor & Gamble compiled several videos saluting moms.
In the "Raising an Olympian" series (watch the video below), mom Rita talks about Jordyn at an early age, and how they first noticed her child might have skill as a gymnast.
"When she was little, she would stand on her dressing table with one leg while we would get dressed," she said. "We just noticed, 'wow she looks like she's got good balance.'"
The video clip shows a montage of recent footage with shots of a young Jordyn at home and in the gym. In one instance where she stumbled, mom tells a young Jordyn:
"The best way to get something done is to try...try again," Rita Wieber says.
Mom said they noticed early on that Jordyn was "intense."
"Parenting was tough because of her intensity," Rita said.
The most prophetic moment comes when Rita about about adversity and how the family copes with it.
"We laugh a lot in our house," she says in the video. "We try to use a lot of humor in every situation because that's how you get through life."
And she credit sports with building character.
"I think sports plays a huge role in the development of children," Rita says. "Those guts and that ability to perform under pressure like that will carry them through in anything they do."
