American Apparel : I'm getting sick of the drama now!

Wow.
Apparently the legal agreement American Apparel make their employees sign when they leave the company has become public. And it's......interesting.
I gotta say, I worked in retail for 7-8 years and I have never been asked to sign anything like this. It rules out the AA defense that this is just something you have to sign in all retail jobs. But then I've never worked for a rape-y company.

By signing the Models release and arbitration agreement, the models are agreeing that :

-They won't sue Charney in court
-Any arbitration will be done in secrecy
-They can't go public with any damaging information (i.e. blogs, media, etc.)
-A breach of contract will "cause American Apparel irreparable harm", and the company can seek a temporary or permanent restraining order to enforce it

It's madness. Another four women have gone public with allegations of sexual assault from the company. While one of the four has gone public and appeared on TV in America, the other three are waiting to hear if they too can make their stories public. (basically a lawyer has to look over the contract they signed so they wont get sued)
The women join another employee who came forward a few weeks back claiming she was kept as a 'sex slave' by Dov Charney - the pervy CEO of the company. AA are claiming that all of this is a way for the women to 'shake down' the company for money it really doesn't have. (see previous posts on their shaky financial situation)

We don't know just what the outcome of all this will be. But lads, it's time to cut the cord and let Charney go. I don't know why they are still hiring him. It's time to start asking that question, why are they so content to sit there and let this man ruin a company? What does he have on them?

I have a little bit of a poll going (see the sidebar there) where I am asking you, my fantastic readers to tell me how YOU feel about the company. I gave you four options to let me know just what you would like to see happen to American Apparel. Given that they have a branch in Dublin. It's open for a month so it will give everyone a chance to vote. So far we have a mixed bag of reactions.
It seems to be that most of you would be happy to keep shopping there, but some of you want a re-brand and some of you want Charney fired. 2 people are happy the way things are. Fair enough.

So keep voting, lets find out what you think!
