Spring time is one of my favourite times of year, after the hustle and bustle of Christmas theres those few months that follow after which just fell dull and make me wish that winter was over and done with. Let's face it, winter is only ok on the build up to Christmas, any cold miserable days after that just awful. I just love the buzz that follows with spring and it feels so good to get outside again and the lighter evenings are just blissful. As a makeup lover, one thing that I love to do is change my makeup bag around and put some products in there that are a little brighter and that help make me feel all spring like. I've chosen some products for you, which I think make the perfect spring time makeup essentials.
Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation; Now this is a foundation that I've been loving since the beginning of the year, but as far as foundation goes, I know I'll be wearing it non stop now spring is here; Yes dewy finishes are lovely, but for me that kind of glow is my summer look. I still want something full coverage and long lasting, so this foundation is perfect for this look. I love how flawless this foundation makes my skin look, it literally hides any imperfection. My skin always looks a little dull and tired and this just instantly lifts my appearance and for this reason it makes its way into my spring time makeup bag. I have a full review of this foundation if you want to give it a read, you can find it here.
Freedom Makeup Strobe Cream; Because the UD All Nighter foundation has a very matte finish, I do like my skin to have a little radiance and warmth to it and for this I use my trusty Strobe cream. This lightweight cream has an iridescent finish to it and adding a little bit of this to my foundation or on the areas that I highlight just help add a little more radiance to my skin. I love using this on top of my foundation, placed on my cheekbones, it just gives my skin a bit more of a natural look and makes it look like the sun has just kissed my face.
Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop by Becca; Sticking with a glow, I'm so obsessed with highlighters right now and Champagne Pop is one of my all time favourites and is perfect for spring. I can't find the words to describe just how beautiful this highlighter is; its so finely milled and just adds so much glow to my skin, I promise you its the prettiest highlight you will ever use. I've been adding this everywhere, from my cheekbones, inner corner of my eye and under my brow bone. Everyone needs this highlighter in their makeup bag, all year round, let alone spring!
Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette; I love natural eye makeup and when it comes to spring makeup I sometimes think less is definitely more which is why this palette is perfect for spring. Urban Decay eyeshadows are amazing we all know that, but out of all their eyeshadow palettes, the Ultimate Basics is my favourite. When it comes to spring makeup, I'd much prefer to add glow and shimmer to my skin and not my eyes, which is why going for a matte shadow works perfectly for me. I'm loving the lighter shades in this palette, especially the ones on the top row; these beiges and lilacs are so beautiful and create a lovely natural day time look that feels and looks fresh.
Girls With Attitude Enchanting Palette; I know matte eyeshadows are not for everyone and there are going to be a handful of you who love your shimmers too much. So for you glitter girls I've included the new GWA Enchanting Palette. This is a new palette in my collection, but I'm already quite obsessed with it (check out my review here). This palette really focuses on warm toned shadows, particularly dusty pinks and shimmery rose golds, which I think are perfect colours to choose for spring. I think this palette is a great way to change your whole makeup look for spring, again the shades in here are very natural looking and will work perfectly for this time of year. Theres even a few peach shades thrown in which will be fab for those really sunny days.
Mac Brave Lipstick; Would you believe it, I've not actually worn this lipstick since spring last year but its now made its way back into my makeup bag. I love this pretty pink nude and the finish is a satin, so it has a slight creamy looking finish to it. You guys know how much I love my matte lipsticks, but they can sometimes make my lips look a little flat and now that spring is here I want something that makes my lips look a little more natural.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant; You guys may have seen my tribute to my favourite Elizabeth Arden products last month which you can find here. So some of you know already that the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant is my little miracle product, I carry one of these with my everywhere as its just pops all the moisture back into my skin whenever I need it to. With the warmer weather approaching, there are going to be those days where we get to show off a little more skin. It was so nice on Wednesday this week that I took my jumper off whilst out walking and was in my t-shirt, the feeling on the sun on my skin was just heavenly. I like it when my skin feels soft and once this cream absorbs into my skin, it feels amazing. I love using this on my legs and it instantly makes them glow and look really healthy.
So there we have it, my top spring picks. I was so inspired to write this post after the glorious weather we had mid week, but typically is freezing, wet and raining today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for us that we get some nicer weather soon.
What are you spring beauty favourites?
